about

Sheffield in the late 1980s.

Post-miners strike and bus deregulation, pre-Meadowhall, and plans to introduce what would become, briefly, the Poll Tax being dreamt up by Thatcher's political advisers in London.

The Limit Club, the Leadmill, Take 2 and upstairs at the Hallamshire.

Pulp, not yet international superstars, and the Fuck City Shitters.

The Berlin Wall hadn't come down and we didn't have mobile phones.

The Nihilistics, born out of the ashes of the Atheist Militia in early 1987 played a handful of gigs in front of a handful of people, including one night alongside the Inspiral Carpets, and then shuffled off their collective mortal coil.

This collection of original Nihilistics songs was recorded in 2011 at 77 Studios in Sheffield by the original line up and having taken 24 years to get round to recording them, it took another three years to finish them off and release them.

With many thanks to Pierre Drezet and Rob Tarana for helping out in many ways over the years.

Enjoy listening and visit the Nihilistics website for news of infrequent reunion gigs in Sheffield.
